WHY HIRE A CERTIFIED LANDSCAPE DESIGNER?

While there is a cost to hiring a landscape designer, it is ultimately more economical to work with an expert to create a plan specific to your lifestyle. According to the Journal of Environmental Horticulture, a high-quality landscape design increases home sale prices up to 10.8 percent, compared to a home with a simply average landscape. When your with your family and friends enjoying your yard, you likely want to have a beautiful yard with a design that expresses your style and who you are. If you are inexperienced with plant layout- material selection - and landscaping in general you may want to consult a certified landscape designer that has the proper training in artistic and visual concepts to make your yard look its very best.

DO YOU VISIT THE SITE?

Yes, after the landscape design is purchased (1) site consultation is included up to 2 hours long. We also view the property remotely utilizing the latest technology from multiple angles for a free SQFT estimate if your unsure of your lot size. The images we view are 40X higher resolution then google earth using a paid service.

WHAT IS A CONCEPT PLAN?

A "Concept Plan" includes all the materials, photos and layout of the scope of work for the landscape. We create a “Concept Plan” for your outdoor landscaping which provides all the information a landscape contractor needs to provide an accurate estimate. 

 Our designs do not include drainage plans, irrigation plans, or permits but we can refer to you a landscape contractor who can properly implement these items when it is time to start breaking ground on your project. We are familiar with most setbacks, easements, and wall heights etc..  but city-specific codes are something our clients should report to us in during the onboarding process. Our designs do not guarantee compliance with local building codes.

Our landscape designs do not include the following information - construction details or specifications for elements like pergolas, decks, pools, ADUs, gas-lines, electrical lines, drains, grading and structures. If your design includes some of these elements that are complex, custom, or not pre-fab, you may want to consult with a Landscape Architect or a Structural Engineer. We can refer you to a local engineering firm if you require more specific construction details or elements.

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A LANDSCAPE DESIGNER & LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT?

Landscape architects must hold a degree and are state licensed and regulated by the California architects’ board. Landscape architects work on a wide range of projects, typically focusing on larger scale work like commercial and industrial, schools, universities, and residential home developments. Landscape Architects also provide Construction documents, details, and specifications for the landscape features such as requiring grading and drainage plans

 

Landscape designers are experts at residential design, typically with a deep-rooted knowledge of plant and hardscape materials for residential homes and gardens. Landscape Designers create visual concept designs for single family homes.

HOW ARE THE PLANTS SELECTED ?

To ensure you get the right plants for your project, our we utilize a plant database which narrows down climate zones, light conditions, and water requirements to special characteristics like “deer-proof,” “pet-safe,” and “year-round interest”. All of our plant designs are reviewed by an experienced horticulturalist who ensures the plants for your design meet the parameters' set forth by the customer. Our landscape designer lives locally in southern CA and has extensive knowledge and experience in CA native plant selection.
